Burberry (BRBY.L) showcased its spring/summer 2026 collection on Monday, drawing inspiration from the counterculture fashion of the British music scene. The runway featured a vibrant array of hippie-inspired crochet dresses, fringed jackets, and tailored suits in striking acid green, yellow, and pink.

Set against a Black Sabbath soundtrack, the show took place in a large tent at Kensington Palace Gardens. The brown sand floor, reminiscent of music festival mud, enhanced the overall theme, which Burberry has embraced this summer. This event marked the closing of London Fashion Week and represented the sixth collection by creative director Daniel Lee since Joshua Schulman became CEO, leading a strategic overhaul aimed at revitalizing the brand's sales.

Fashion buyers noted clear evidence of Schulman's changes, emphasizing a coherent narrative in marketing that celebrates British culture. The focus on recognizable Burberry staples, such as outerwear, was evident throughout the collection. "Burberry has sharpened its focus on its most powerful assets - the trench, the check, and outerwear," remarked David Thielebeule, fashion director at Bloomingdale's.

Thielebeule further noted that Lee successfully infused traditional pieces with a contemporary rock-and-roll twist, incorporating crochet, fringe, mirrored detailing, and metallic finishes. Burberry highlighted the connection between fashion and music, a theme that resonated throughout the collection.

Under Schulman's leadership, Burberry's advertising has featured notable British artists, from Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher to 90s producer and DJ Goldie, and hip hop artist Loyle Carner. The iconic Burberry check pattern appeared on chainmail mini dresses in black and silver, as well as in pink and neon green, and on trench coats that also showcased snakeskin and tarot card prints.

"This collection felt like a confident embrace of a younger client, rooted firmly in British culture and the energy of music festivals," noted Simon Longland, director of fashion buying at Harrods. The collection reflects Burberry's commitment to evolving while honoring its rich heritage.
