Imagine Dragons: Surprise, Drummer Daniel Platzman Leaves the Band

Imagine Dragons has officially lost one of its key members. Completely absent from the promotion surrounding the album "Loom," drummer Daniel Platzman confirms that he is leaving the band to focus on other projects.

Note that, for months now, drummer Daniel Platzman has been missing from the radar in the Instagram posts of Imagine Dragons. On the visuals for the new album "Loom," which debuted at number one in sales in France at the end of June and has since sold 25,000 copies, in the music video for the single "Eyes Closed," or on the band's official accounts, there has been no trace of the 37-year-old musician who joined the Las Vegas-based rock band in 2011, two years before their international breakthrough with hits like "It's Time" and "Radioactive." His absence has left fans confused, especially since no official statement about a presumed departure had been made. On his YouTube channel, Daniel Platzman even continued to post live performances and drum covers without mentioning anything about the situation—until now.

Fans feared it, and now the news is official: Daniel Platzman is leaving Imagine Dragons. On his social media, the American artist, who missed several concerts in South America in 2023 due to health issues, confirms the sad news alongside a photograph of him with his three bandmates in front of a large cheering crowd. "After an incredible journey of over a decade, I will be leaving the amazing band that is Imagine Dragons. I wanted to express my deepest gratitude to you, the fans, for your unwavering support and for sharing the joy of music with me. Meeting all of you has truly been the highlight of this chapter," the musician writes, without mentioning any existing tension with the other band members. The reason behind this decision is something else entirely. In fact, Platzman explains that he will soon share more about the projects he has been working hard on over the past few months, which are centered around his greatest passion—film music and composition.

Currently on the road in the United States for their "LOOM Tour," Imagine Dragons now consists of lead singer Dan Reynolds, guitarist Wayne Sermon, and bassist Ben McKee.
